Snippet de Wikipédia: Wiki

Un wiki est un site web qui permet à un grand nombre d'internautes de créer et de modifier ses pages en quelques clics, parfois sans obligation de s'inscrire. Son développement est l'œuvre d'une communauté en ligne qui travaille collaborativement et de manière asynchrone, selon les mêmes procédés que la communauté d'un logiciel libre. Les auteurs du site utilisent un langage de balisage spécifique nommé le wikitexte, ou un éditeur WYSIWYG .

Le wiki le plus connu — et celui qui popularise le format dans les années 2000 — est Wikipédia, une encyclopédie en ligne créée en 2001, qui figure dans la liste des sites web les plus visités au début du XXI^e siècle. Son logiciel est MediaWiki.

Le premier wiki, créé en 1995 par Ward Cunningham, est WikiWikiWeb, une simple section d'un site sur la programmation informatique.

DokuWiki is an open source wiki application, licensed under GPLv2 and written in the PHP programming language. It works on plain text files and thus does not need a database. It has a syntax similar to the one used by MediaWiki, and is often recommended as a more lightweight, easier to customize alternative. The 'Doku' in DokuWiki is short for Dokumentation (documentation in German). It can be installed on local PCs, flash drives, and folders synced with file hosting services or file synchronization programs such as Dropbox or Syncthing.
